Not only did Elizabeth create a beautiful cake for our wedding, she didn't blink an eye when I had to call her up in a panic because my previously booked cake lady fell ill. She even honored my previous cake quote and then made it four tiers instead of three!! She has great attention to detail and arranged the flowers my florist left for her beautifully. Not only that, the CAKE WAS DELICIOUS!! All four differently flavored layers. Yum! I recommend the carrot cake and the lemon! :) Thanks Elizabeth! I was getting compliments from my girlfriends even while upstairs still getting ready! I was the very last person to see the cake and I loved it.

I honestly cannot give this company any stars. THEY DID NOT DELIVER MY WEDDING CAKE. I'm assuming they didn't make it. They also did not contact us before, during or after our wedding to let us know that they had chosen to not make our wedding cake. I wish I had read Laura's review from 2010 before attempting to use this company. Our caterer, Vibrant Table, has put them on their official "Do Not Use" vendor list, and had to scramble the afternoon of our wedding to round up cakes from Safeway to serve at our formal sit-down dinner for 175 people. It's a good thing I was feeling the endorphin rush of the wedding or this could have completely ruined my day. We booked this vendor ~5 weeks before our wedding, after the date they require half payment. We communicated numerous times via email as to what "half payment" was since our design was not finalized. We wanted to give them our money, they for some reason could not understand our request and just kept saying, "please send half payment" to which we replied, "half of what??" Finally, Liz grasped what we were saying and replied, "when we finalize the design, then you can just send the full payment." We finalized the design one week before our wedding. Still no quote. 3 days before our wedding, we sent an email confirming the date, time, location and cake delivery time of our wedding, with the question, can we send a check? Liz replied with a confirmation and FINALLY a final quote, to which my husband replied, "Great, we'll put a check in the mail." He left the check on the counter and forgot to put it in the mail, we didn't think of it again, on our wedding day the cake did not arrive, our caterer called Artisan Cake Company an hour after they were supposed to arrive, they said "we did not have your wedding on our calendar" and "we did not receive payment." We haven't heard from them since. I hope everyone also realizes this was NOT a money issue, the cake was less than 2% of our budget. I have not contacted them for fear of what I may say, but I would highly recommend staying away from this company. I am assuming it was a simple miscommunication between designer Liz and the baker. We should have run when we had so much trouble communicating about the price in the first place. They were extremely unprofessional, had very poor communication skills, and robbed me and my guests of the ceremony and celebration of wedding cake. They also didn't call to inform me that they were not making my cake (either because they didn't receive payment or "didn't have it on their calendar") so that I could have made other arrangements. EVIL. I don't honestly think these are awful people, but their miscommunication within their company almost ruined my wedding, and those are not the people you want to entrust with an important part of the best day of your life. I cannot even begin to tell you how absolutely blown away and thrilled I was with my wedding cake. It was beyond amazing. Liz not only created a 4 tier, delicious masterpiece, she also went above and beyond and made us the most amazing custom cake stand that lit up and accented our cake beautifully! Liz has amazing talent and will take your ideas and make them soooooo much more than what you hoped for. I think you would be hard pressed to find another cake artist in the Portland Area (or beyond for that matter) that has the skill and passion that Liz does. I highly (HIGHLY) recommend Artisan Cake Company for any event!

Our cake was great, but the groom's cake Liz made for us was truly a work of art! There was a mix-up with our cake flavors, but everything was still delicious. Thank you, Liz!

I put my cousin in charge of the cake for a Baby Shower we co-hosted and she ordered from Artisan Cake Company and it was the hit of the whole shower. Not only was the cake perfect in every detail, it tasted amazing! I'm now looking for excuses to order from them again... lol!

The cake we got from Artisan Cake Co. was AMAZING. It was the talk of the party even before we cut into it. It was everything I could have hoped for! It looked gorgeous and tasted wonderful too. I could not have asked for better service, from the very first email requesting information to the professional set-up and delivery of the cake. Thank you again, Artisan Cake Co, and I will definitely be using you in the future for my fancy cake needs.

My wedding cake was amazing!!! The quality of work was amazing like something you would see on one of those cake shows on TV! Liz was so flexible with me also...I had called her up about 4-5 months before the wedding and asked if I could add a grooms cake to my order as well and there was no problem doing so! The grooms cake was an exact replica of my husbands guitar! It was huge hit! Thank you Liz for everything!

I really want to thank you Liz for providing me and my fiance with such a wonderful cake. She really cared about us and gave us exactly what we were looking for! She was detailed, creative and really easy to work with. I would recommend her to any bride who is looking for something different than the every day old blah cake :)

We loved our wedding and shower cakes so much we refer to them as food network super cool wedding cake show quality in looks and taste. When we sat down to talk about what we were thinking Artisan Cake co. got excited about the ideas we had and the pictures we brought with us to show her of the looks we were hoping for and instead of saying whats one or two of these ideas are your favorite she found a way to include almost every idea we liked. A lot of other brides that came to my showers and wedding were amazed at the looks of our cakes and so many pictures are around these cakes. I just wish my wedding day wasn't so busy i could have looked at them longer. We are so very happy with the looks and flavors of our cakes. Between all three events we had 9 yes 9 flavors of cake. All were amazing. We will most certainly use Artisan Cake co. for future, want to order cakes events and gatherings. Everyone at Artisan is super easy to talk to and work with. Thank you Artisan Cake co. Liz and team for such beautiful works of art on our very special wedding day and shower cakes. Liz was great. We didn't have a lot of money to spend on the cake since we spent it all on other vendors, but she had great ideas to work within our budget. We ended up having a 3-tiered cake for display (which wasn't big enough to feed all 125 people at our wedding) and a sheet cake in the back that was used to feed the rest of the group. It was a great way to save money because a sheet cake is so much cheaper and the guests can't tell it's not from the beautiful tiered cake since it is decorated the same on top. She was very helpful and willing to work with any budget. The cake was delicious and we had several different flavors for guests to choose from at no extra cost. I think she works from home because she didn't have an office to meet at...which was okay. We just met at a coffee shop to do the cake tasting. If you are looking for a down to earth gal who makes good cakes that work with any budget, she's your person!

If you decide to go with this company, be warned that Liz may not bake or deliver your order, which lead to a multitude of problems with my cake and cupcakes. We paid extra to have meringues decorate the edge of our wedding cake, and instead were giving unattractive blobs of frosting; apparently something was wrong with the way she made the frosting and since Liz wasnt there to fix the problem, our cake went from classic to messy. Our cupcake toppers were put on our cake instead of the cupcakes, despite being in a bag marked "cupcake toppers", our chocolate cupcakes weren't filled, our vanilla cupcakes were filled with cheap strawberry jam instead of fresh strawberries and bavarian cream, and were topped with buttercream frosting instead of whipped cream frosting (I hate buttercream frosting, so I didn't even get to eat any of my wedding cupcakes) and she completely FORGOT TO MAKE our lemon cupcakes. She claims most of the problems were miscommunications with her and her decorator and baker, so I would warn anyone considering this company to make sure to double check everything she says/does multiple times, or risk having your cake experience ruin your wedding day, like this experience ruined mine and my husband's. ONE MORE IMPORTANT WARNING: After our wedding, Liz agreed that she had in fact ruined every aspect of our order in some way, and would refund us 1/3 of our payment. After receiving a negative review from us on this site (all of the information in the review is accurate, though negatively skewed as there were an incredible amount of mistakes to our order), she has since CHANGED HER MIND AND IS NOT GOING TO REFUND US. IS THIS THE KIND OF BUSINESS YOU WANT TO TRUST ON YOUR WEDDING DAY?

we had our wedding on july 18th and the cake turned out so amazing ive never seen something with such beauty and the taste was hands down the best ever!! the cake looked better than the picture did!! thanks liz and ur staff for the best cake in the world!!

Liz at Artisan Cake Company made my wedding cake EXACTLY how i envisioned it. The cake was the center piece of our dessert table and it looked so amazing. I was extremely pleased with my service and would recommend Liz to anyone looking for a custom designed master piece, made of cake :)

Liz did the most incredible job on all 170 mini cakes for my wedding. Two tier with metallic accents in the most delectable flavors of all time! I will gladly go back to Liz for any event I can find an excuse to get a cake for! She is the best.

I met with a lot of cake vendors and Liz Marek is hands down the absolute BEST! She is insanely affordable, extremely talented, and incredibly responsive and professional. I appreciate everything she did and will return to her for all my cake needs.

Thank you Liz for the most beautiful wedding cake! The orchids and soft green simple trim were perfect for the bride and groom who were wanting a very "nature" inspired wedding. You did an outstanding design and we appreciate your efforts on such a short notice. My cake was absolutely perfect! I got so many compliments on it. Liz was very professional during the cake tasting appointment, and she was able to build on my ideas for the design of my cake. She is a talented and creative person, and the flavors of cake were amazing and unique!

Liz is a very warm and kind person who makes you feel comfortable to express what you truly want. She is very creative and full of ideas to help make the cake you want for you wedding. You will find her extremely resourceful and full of good information. You would be lucky to have Liz's cakes at your wedding.

She was great! We couldn't have asked for more. The price was the best one we found in town, and the cake was beautiful, tasted great and it was on time. I gave her a picture of what we wanted and she made it come true! I would so recommend her. :)

Artisan Cake Company not only has beautiful cakes, but they are totally delicious! I received so many compliments on my wedding cakes from my guests.
