This is a wonderful boutique and I got great service. I had tried on dresses prior to going there, which I think is probably a good idea although not essential. The gowns are not out on the floor and the assistants help you based on what you describe, your body type, type of wedding, etc. Then eliminate and choose more from there. The boutique is beautiful, small and very intimate. I worked with Nahid each time and she is incredible. She was so helpful and has been doing this long enough to also give you honest, but kind, feedback on what works best for your body. (Not just the ditzy sales person who says OMG, it's beauuuuuutiful for every single dress) I also had her do my alterations which she did perfectly. She has been doing alterations so long that it looks like this is how it was originally made! Wearing my dress was a dream and I couldn't have been happier with it! My only two (very mild) criticisms would be that they can be hard to get into since they are a popular and also small, boutique. And that the prices for both dresses and alterations were a little high. That being said, I still got a dress in my budget and given the quality of my alterations, certainly got what I paid for. As many brides may already know, and is certainly true for this boutique, start early!! Most of their gowns take 4-6 months to come in (mine I think was from Spain), plus you need time for alterations, etc. so get...

Divine Designs has one of the best set ups in terms dressing rooms and mirrors. It is an elegant, spacious environment that really lets you imagine yourself on your wedding day with plenty of room for moms and sisters. Their gowns are not available for customers to browse through. They bring you gowns based on your likes and their experience and expertise in dressing brides, much like the popular TV show, Say Yes to the Dress. The best part of Divine Designs is Nahid, the alterations tailor. She is AMAZING. She has been doing wedding dress alterations for, I think she said 20 + years and it shows. She is the best. When I went for my fitting, she asked me detailed questions that really made me confident the dress would fit me perfectly. Some of the questions were, "are you on your period and if so, do you normally retain water, what part of your cycle will you be in on your wedding day, when you gain and/or lose weight, where does it come from, do you gain or lose when under stress". She also advised me not to drink alcohol before the wedding as she has seen customers increase up to 4 inches from having a few beers the night before, making them unable to zip the dress all the way up. All great advice! She also created an unconventional way to bustle my dress that kept the integrity of it and made it perfect for the dance floor. She is absolutely FANTASTIC. At the dress appointment, my dress consultant, Jessica brought me a number of dresses that fit the description of what I wanted. At the end of the fitting, she brought me one that upon first look, I absolutely did NOT like but decided to try it on based on her recommendation. It turned out to be "the one". I would never have picked it on my own and once she put it on me, that was it. I LOVE the dress and it fit my body type to a T. My only criticism is that the shop has a policy of only letting you try the dress on a total of three times, when you buy it, when you do the fitting, and one more time. For me, it worked out because I tried it when I bought it, I went back and tried it on to pick out accessories, and for the fitting but it made me nervous to discover that I was limited in trying the dress on, especially after making such an investment. Monica is very firm on her policies and will not give you any wiggle room. Make sure you read the contract and love the dress because this is not one of the shops that will negotiate with you on details after you sign.

I had a wonderful experience at Divine Designs! My sister-in-law had gotten her dress there and I had gone with her for the fitting, so I already liked the owner and the shop. She loved her dress and had a great experience, so it was no surprise to me when I ended up finding my dress there too (I did look elsewhere). The dress I found was a Lian Carlo, and it was not the dress I set out looking for... it surprised me as being the perfect fit and style for me, and I felt playful and sexy in it. On my wedding day, it was a perfect dress for our venue- not too big of a train and not too full so I could get around on the boat we were married on, but extremely elegant. All in all it was a fabulous choice and I was extremely happy with it. I also have to say that the seamstress who did the alterations was amazing as well. She works out of the shop too and did a wonderful job!

I had a great experience with Divine Designs. My original dress didn't work out because the store closed unexpectedly. I went to Divine Designs with a limited timeline, and they were wonderful! What an incredible selection, too.

Divine Designs had professional and private service with large, clean fitting rooms. The staff was knowledgeable regarding styles and body types. They offered their opinion when you needed the honest truth. They handled alterations as well and made sure that the dress was a perfect fit on the big day!

Unfortunetly, I think I had an unusual circumstance with them. I found the perfect dresses there and they had to be shipped from far away. When my dresses didn't come in on time, I kept calling to find out when they would get there. I was assured that they would get there on time for my girls to get fitted and altered. They kept telling me don't worry they will get here. They didn't. 3 days before the wedding I had to scramble to find new bridesmaid dresses. They gave me all my money back, and were sincerely sorry about what happened. I wish they would not have "assured" me up until only 3 days before the wedding.

Monica, the owner is wonderful! I was living in Chicago and came out to visit my sister in Portland with my Mom and we went dress shopping there. Divine Designs was the first store I had an appointment at in Portland. As soon as I walked in and started talking to Monica she said she already knew the perfect dress for me but wanted me to tell her what I was envisioning. She brought me a number of dresses and had me try on the dress she had in mind for me, it was THE ONE! I loved it from the moment I put it on. Now that is a professional. It was going to take about 6 months to get my dress fromt he designer and after 4 months had passed I realized I was going to be back in Portland in a month (only 5 months) and I called Monica to see if she could get my dress in so that I could try it on when I was there. She called the designer and the designer was willing to put it ahead of some other dresses and brought it with her because she was having a trunk show at the store the weekend I was there! The dress was an Elizabeth Filmore, I would highly recommend her as well!
