Edgefield is beautiful and a wonderful place to have your wedding, like a village all on it's own. We chose to have our wedding in the Attic, because of the cozy feeling you got when you walked in and thought the stairs (no elevator) and the bathrooms (3 flights down) were worth it, and it really was. It took very little to decorate it since the space was so beautiful. The people who catered the event were fantastic. We thought that having only one bar would be an issue, but the bartender kept everything moving smoothly, the caterers were friendly, and always right there when you needed them. Our events coordinator always got back to us quickly. Our only problems we had all night were an abundance of dirty glasses, and tables collapsing due to not being locked into place..and having to redecorate them after they did collapse..thankfully before guests arrived. But those things seem pretty small in the whole picture of the day. We are happy with the venue and grateful to have somewhere so beautiful to get married in when options are limited in the winter months.

Edgefield is obviously awesome. And compared with other places, it's surprisingly low-priced. We and our wedding guests had a blast out there, and I want to give it a full 5 stars, but there were a couple things on our reception day (wedding was the day before somewhere else) that knocked Quality of Service down to a 4... But before I get into the negatives, I want to make clear that the event planner we worked with was awesome. She herself gets 5 stars for sure. She was always incredibly helpful and responsive, no matter how many questions or issues I threw at her. The problems we ran into were these:1) One of the drinks we were hosting at the bar was supposed to be a non-alcoholic beer (unusual but necessary in our families), yet when it was ordered, the bartender didn't have any idea it was supposed to be stocked, and it never managed to make it's way to our party. I'm not sure why that problem couldn't be easily solved, but for whatever reason, we never saw the non-alcoholic beer that we were supposed to be hosting show up.2) When we arrived in the room for our reception, we discovered that the projector for the slideshow was set up on a table WAY too close to the screen. In order to remedy this, we had to re-arrange tables and find an extension cord for the thing. It took a considerable amount of our time that we were supposed to be spending doing photos, so that was frustrating. And it just seemed silly since they must use projectors out there enough to know how to set them up. Mostly we were annoyed that we had to fix the problem ourselves as no one who worked there was anywhere to be found.Other than those things, a HUGE plus is that they let you take home the leftovers from your dinner buffet. What?! That's great! So I definitely recommend Edgefield as a wedding/reception venue, just make sure you double-check the details on the day, with plenty of time to spare.

We had our wedding at Blackberry Hall. It was beautiful and we were happy with how things turned out when the day was done. Unfortunately getting to the end game proved to be a tedious and painful process that left us scratching our heads multiple times. Our coordinater changed three times in the course of one year. I would include a name in this review but given the turnover in that position it wouldn't be at all productive - it was the one warning from our friends which turned out to be 100% accurate. Each time, we had to reexplain everything as notes were either not taken or not passed from one person to the next. We scheduled multiple meetings leading up to our wedding to go through the timeline, menu and general planning phases for our special day. When we came in to go over the menu, our Coordinator did not provide our parents with any up to date information (we had outdated menus and pricing that were given to us when we first reserved the venue). Also the packet from before was ok for two people but one packet for five people is not enough. In addition, it was a complex process getting answers to simple questions, like pricing of specific items (drinks or seating/tables for the outside) . Finally the week before as we were STILL settling details like orientation of the ceremony seating and pricing for all of the items on our menu.My husband to be was aware of these issues and arrived three and a half hours before the ceremony just in case things needed to be taken care of. Unfortunately it was even worse than anticipated. The ceremony seats were stacked up as no one knew where they were supposed to be placed. In addition, we had reserved the ballroom in case it rained and planned on using it for signing the marriage license if the weather was nice. Somehow NO ONE had any idea that we had reserved the space and he was running around trying to figure out what was going on so that we could use the space. It didn't help that the Ballroom was already setup for an event that evening so the layout wasn't ideal for signing documents with a few people in what should have been a nice moment for us and our families. My poor husband ran around so much between setting things up and taking pictures that blisters were popping on his feet BEFORE the ceremony even started :(In addition, Edgefield was to provide the table numbers and reserve seating in the front row of the ceremony...both were missed. Finally, we had specifically written in our contract for there to be NO tip jar since we were already paying for that...so the bar tenders just put out 3 dollars to try to ask for a tip until I told them to get rid of it. Once things started moving it was still a struggle to get things working correctly. We provided a pretty specific and detailed timeline of our event for our coordinator and the person in charge of running the catering for that day/event. Too bad our DJ asked people to sit down as salads would be served in a couple of minuted and 10 minutes later we were asked if it was alright to serve the salad. For some reason despite having a plated meal the cake was served buffet style...we couldn't figure out why that happened since we didn't want people lining up for food. We also ordered ice cream (which was delicious), however the empty freezer for it was placed on the dance floor without us realizing it so when it was time for the first dance we had to move it out of the way so we could utilize the entire space.Overall the food was good for the money and the venue was pretty with the new grass outside...but you get the service you pay for. If I had to do it again, I would have picked a place that was easier to deal with and less stressful. We really didn't expect the fundamental issues throughout the process and the day of that we experienced which is unfortunate because it added more stress to a day that has plenty of it. If you have a wedding planner/coordinator this would probably be a great place since you won't feel any of this pain but if you're doing it yourself it could very well be more of a headache than you're willing to endure.

Working with Tiffany at the Edgefield for our wedding reception in The Attic was a great experience. Friends of ours are getting married in July and hearing their experiences with their coordinators and their pricing made me appreciate Edgefield and Tiffany even more. The food was delicious and many guests commented on how delicious it was. The servers were efficient, really nice and prompt. Service at all the different McMenamins pubs can be ummmm, erratic at times (always nice but you are never sure what food you will end up with) but we had zero issues with the catering staff. The prices were very reasonable and the options for food and drink were great. There was lots of flexibility in how you wanted your reception to go.The whole process from setting up rooms for all our guests, to them helping us hand out tons of out of town gift bags, to choosing menu items, explaining policies, going over day of details beforehand was a snap. Everything is very clearly spelled out and there were no surprises along the way.If you are a McMenamins kind of person, and not everyone is, you will love having your wedding at the Edgefield. Your guests will appreciate a fun, unique place to stay and your details will be handled professionally and the food and booze will be tasty. We are so lucky we chose Edgefield for our wedding reception and wedding weekend.

We had our reception in Blackberry hall, and it was absolutely beautiful! The staff was very helpful in the entire process of planning our wedding. They gave us our hotel room for free the night after the wedding, which was a surprise to us when we went to check out! The only issue is that the staff didn't set up enough tables - there was one missing. So, all the guests that had table "number 18" didn't have a place to go and had to track down a staff member to get an additional table set up.

We used the Blackberry Hall and Meadow for our wedding. It was beautiful. They were very helpful with choosing linens and menus. They have a huge wine and beer list and you choose over ten for your event. There is no fee for the space, you just pay a food and drink minimum.

We originally picked Edgefield as our venue for several reasons: location, ease of planning, good food, the ability to pay for guest rooms and a beautiful intimate outdoor space. By the end of it all, the place had only its location going for it. The ease of planning, which I expected receive because they have a team of coordinators, did not exist. Every time I called to make an appointment I was either discouraged for meeting them in person (as if they didn't have time for me), or told me to wait until closer to our wedding day. This is not okay. Despite my desire to discuss menus, rentals and table layouts three months in advance (I'm a very organized person), I found myself scrambling for everything I needed starting two weeks prior. Worst of all, the staff, who previously did not have time for me, starting pressuring me to make decisions and do everything as quickly as possible - but I still had to call and email several times before I could have questions answered.I booked my beautiful space a full year out. It was supposed to be grass. We really wanted to be married on a grassy lawn and ruled out several other venues because they didn't have what we wanted available. Edgefield, however, decided to brick over the space during the winter. THEY HAD KNOWN this was going to happen when we toured and booked the area and DID NOT say a word. In fact, they continued their silence until I went out there one day to meet with the coordinator and stepped onto brick. I could see the beauty of it and why they decided to make the change, but I was shocked. And upset. And they didn't care at all. Oh, the band. They booked an 80's rock band for the same night of our wedding. By the time they told us, our invitations were already printed. They offered to move us inside, but one location was not handicap accessible for the grandparents and in the other we could not dance. Already upset with everything else going wrong, I decided to make the best of it. Sure there would be noise from the sound-check, but the concert wouldn't be starting until after the ceremony was over, right? And we were across the campus, so it wouldn't ruin everything, would it? And if there was a problem, they'd help figure out a solution? Wrong. The bass from the sound-check was so loud we had difficulty hearing each other talk. We called our coordinator, who didn't have any sympathy. She said she had "asked" them them to turn it down and the band said no. It had to be a complete lie. She didn't care - She was also in charge of the concert. I knew that the concert brought in more money for Edgefield than our little wedding and they didn't give us any priority. We finally ended up pushing the ceremony and dinner back a full hour into the guaranteed quiet hour (which lasted exactly an hour) and encouraged our guests to enjoy the open bar.We rented the house at Edgefield and paid for it, in full, a month in advance. We wanted our friends to have a nice place to stay, an ease of mind while planning travel arrangements and a complete lack of knowledge about the cost of the rooms. However, they would not check all of the room keys out to us, so each of our friends were hassled for a credit card upon check-in, despite our attempts to have them hold our information on file. Finally, two days later, when we checked out, some of our guests got receipts, with a breakdown of room prices - information we didn't want them to know. It completely ruined the experience (and gift) for our best friends. I was also disappointed to learn that they would not do any plated dinners outside. Having a buffet was a huge compromise for me and one that I made early on. Now I wish I hadn't given in and gotten what I had wanted elsewhere.I would never recommend this venue. They failed even my lowest expectations.

Colleen is awesome! Just wish she was working the day of our wedding, which could have avoided some hiccups we had, such as asking for an extension or and only recieving a 3 ft one and told that is all they had. :-( Really? Overall the hotel and staff are friendly for the most part, all places had a few sour apples and I felt we had them as our servers and bartender. Would I come back! Of course, gorgeous venue, and it has a special place in my heart since I meet my husband at a wedding there.

To have your wedding at Edgefield McMenamins you NEED to book at least 1 year in advance. We booked in april for August of the next year and rooms were already full. Married this summer at Blackberry meadow with reception in Blackberry Hall. Very beautiful, exactly what I wanted plus more. It was really nice to not have to set up chairs on my wedding day, worry about boys setting up the tent or even placing tablecloths on the table. Definitely worth not having to add that stress to you or friend and family. With McMenamins you do have to use their beer and wine, which is okay because it is delicious. However, they won't sell it to you by the case or keg, which makes it more expensive in the long run. At the wedding they kept carding guests again and again. Guests did leave items on the table and one got her purse stolen. Would have been nice to have a different system for carding, to avoid this. Hard to make a "private" event on a friday evening without a few wedding crashers. The food was great and affordable of plated meals. Lots to eat! Overall, I was thrilled with McMenamins and felt my wedding was unique. Only negative, no flexibility.

Edgefield was the far best venue for affordability, atmosphere, quality of food and variety. Most guests commented on how excited they were to finally go to a wedding at Edgefield! Staff was over the top! I didn't have a single thing to worry about on my big day! Kara was on top of everything and always 2 steps ahead of me! Thank you everyone! Kudos to Gregory and his staff the night of our ceremony. He was fantastic! Most organized crew I have ever seen. Can't wait to go to someone else's wedding there!Melinda ShooteVancouver, WA

Edgefield is absolutly gorgeous!! We were supposed to get married in the Administraters Side Yard. But two days before our wedding it rained and rained. The forcast was rain throughout the week. My wedding coordinater was great! She moved us to Blackberry Hall (which happened to be out first choice and it was available). Our rooms and the grounds were so beautiful and relaxing. We will be coming back just to stay or for a lunch date! The Black Rabbit catered and was so yummy!

We had a lot of people coming in from out of town and the ENTIRE staff at Edgefield did everything to make us feel at home. Colleen and her team were there every step of the way for us and having planned the wedding from Ohio - I needed all the support. I could ask for opinions and I got candid, honest responses. The food was great and so was the service! There honestly wasn't one thing that we could or would have asked for more than we kindly received from the staff.

McMenamins is the way to go! You save so much money with any of their venues because each one has a minimum food and beverage price. Once you reach this amount, the cost of the actual venue is waived. Bar service, all staff, linens, tables, chairs, dishes and silverware are all included as well. Plus, you have an amazing "resort style" location where friends and family can stay the entire weekend. Our wedding wasn't just a ceremony and reception, but an entire weekend we spent with loved ones. Ruby's Spa and soaking pool was incredible, too!

McMenamins Edgefield was an outstanding venue for our wedding ceremony/reception. Colleen was a model of professionalism in helping our vision of a perfect wedding day come to fruition. The location is just spectacular for everyone involved, from locals who travelled from Portland to out of town guests who travelled across the country. There is so much to do on the site. Blackberry Hall was perfect for our reception of 120 guests. Our guests enjoyed the rooms, food, decor, The Soaking Pool, Lucky Staehlys Pool Hall, The Distillery, and the many other cool locations.

I only had my reception at McMenamin's Edgefield, my ceremony was held off-site. Overall I was soooo happy with my service and planning with Edgefield. My events coordinator was Tiffany Yasui. She was amazing! She was always available for me and very flexible, able to change anything for me when I had even last minute changes the day before! The wait staff are bartenders were cheerful, personable, and fast :) The only negative thing I heard from anyone that was involved in my reception was from my wedding planner. The folks that were supposed to set up tables were not as helpful as she would've liked/needed. She said when she asked for tables to be set up that had not been they told her that they didn't need to be set up until right before. She had a conversation with Tiffany who immediately resolved the issue.I never even noticed, nor did my guests. Everyone had a wonderful time and the venue is so gorgeous and neat. I very highly recommend Edgefield to every bride!

The food is AMAZING! My guests are still talking about how great the food and drink was. My ceremony was in the Meadow and our reception was in the Blackberry Hall. Everything was set up perfectly and was more beautiful then I could ever imagine. All of my guests said that it was the most beautiful wedding they have ever been too. I also had my and all my bridesmaids hair and makeup done at Rubys Spa which also did a great job. Really have no complaints, but it is expensive... but worth the cost!

We had our wedding on a Tuesday in the summer, which worked for us since so many guests are in the education system and have summers off. The food and beverage minimum was cheaper that way, and we were able to book it closer to the date. We felt like Jaclyn really took care of a lot of details we wouldn't have thought of, since we haven't been to very many weddings. We obviously did a lot of work ourselves, but as far as scheduling and timing and asking all the right questions, she was efficient and easy to work with. They are not at all flexible about the rules of no outside noise after 10pm, and only serving alcohol for 5 hours. (i think they added on an extra 15 minutes). There were things we requested that weren't done, but it wasn't that big of a deal. It works GREAT to have guests stay there and play with everything Edgefield has to offer. Our guests LOVED IT. Especially the soaking pool. The Blackberry meadow is absolutely gorgeous and has tons of flowers in the summer, which we didn't realize would happen since we checked it out and booked it in the early spring. I would totally recommend it!
