We were lucky enough to get Lynn winkle to dj our reception and we were more than satisfied! We had a fairly large list of songs we wanted played and I think most all of them were at some point during the night! Lynn also didn't play anything from our "do not play list" as well as not playing any genres we didn't want! She kept the evening flowing well and read the group well when it came to keeping people on the dance floor! We had her booked for 4.5 hrs but she was willing to stay longer if we wanted (with additional pay of course). She was very professional and very respectful of what we envisioned! I would recommend her to anyone getting married!!!

The Goods: Great sound, good lights, didn't play any of my "do not plays", arrived on time and dressed appropriately, communication was fine, and was fun and friendly at the wedding. Some additional details: At the start when I began contact with Media Jockey, they were friendly and eager to gain my business. I decided to book a dj early (10 months) so that I was not left with bad pickings since I had a summer Saturday wedding planned. We made the trip from Hillsboro to east Portland on a weeknight (which was a nightmare) in order to sign our contract and meet Lynn and Mark. It was a great meeting and all our questions were answered. I had requested Mark as our DJ and selected an amount of time we expected to need. We paid 50% of a deposit which is quite a bit for 10 months ahead of time, but graciously did so since they'd been so accommodating. About 1 month before the wedding, I contacted Lynn to see if we can have our 5 hours divided between 1 hour on the patio and 4 hours inside the reception. It was an extra $150 to add on the audio on the patio with no addition of time. Whoa! So, I then decided to scrap the patio music since there will be lots of chatter anyway. Just to let you know, the amount of time you think you need when you sign your contract 10 months prior, is the amount you're bound to. It's hard to know when people will want to stop dancing when your venue allows you to go until midnight. I submitted a shortish list (15-20 songs) of must-play songs at the wedding. Only about a third were played. I also requested in our first meeting that requests from guests should not to be taken since we wanted the songs we chose to be played. I mean, it is OUR wedding, right? And how many times do you hire a DJ to play what you want?! Well, the first thing announced when dancing started was "come put in your request". And that only led to people complaining that their song wasn't being played soon enough. That is another reason to not have requests - then people can't get disappointed. Also, why did we do all that work of putting a list together if only 1/3 get played? PS - turns out our friends like to dance - we went all the way to midnight or so! Overall, this was a good choice for my budget. I would rehire Mark/Media Jockey if I had the chance, but would surely have a second meeting closer to the wedding. Probably would have solved the issues.

Lynn at Media Jockey's was excellent to work with. She met with us and organized everything right up to the day before. She was very quick in responding to any questions and offered services like uplighting and a playing different slideshows for us which was nice to not have to hire yet another vendor. Stephen was our DJ the night of the wedding and did a good job. He kept in good communication with me and my wedding party and made the night run smoothly. He had trouble with one of our slideshows at the wedding which brought us off schedule and the accoustics in the room weren't as good as I had hoped but overall he did a good job. I would definitely recommend them to other brides looking for good quality and affordable music for their weddings.

Media Jockeys and Lynn were simply amazing. We are so glad we booked them for our wedding DJ services. The price and value, professionalism, and flexibility were perfect for helping us with our wedding. We had a lot of requests and Lynn always was cheerful to help and accommodate. They have an event and music planner form online that you can use to plan your wedding music and it works perfectly! They even offer dancing lessons which we recommend taking advantage of. With their help, we did not look like (that big of) idiots during our first dance. We plan on taking future dance lessons with them simply because they were so great to work with. I'm very happy my husband and I decided to go with Media Jockeys. Both of us have a very eclectic taste in music, and we had guests with all sorts of tastes; but luckily they allow for couples to select from a huge list of songs to play. They have nearly everything! Our first dance song wasn't on their list but the DJ had no trouble downloading it and playing it. I even just made a comment through email that I was not a big fan of Michael Buble or Frank Sinatra, and completely respected my opinion! Everyone loved the great soul and jazz tunes. The only trouble we came across was the communication between the DJ and the wedding coordinator. I felt he rushed us into doing the cake cutting (the coordinator didn't know so we were left cutting a cake without a plate or napkin, only a slightly awkward moment!), and I had to remind him about doing the garter toss and bouquet toss.Other than that he was very sweet, asked us a lot of questions about introductions, what songs we wanted and when they should be played, etc. The price was exceptionally reasonable, considering what Portland DJs usually charge. They also weren't pushy about add-ons, which I appreciated. Another service we consulted kept trying to get us to buy a karaoke machine and a projector, which I flat out said I didn't want.Lynn was so nice, it's such a great business and I recommend their DJs to anyone!

We had the pleasure of hiring Lynn from Mediajockeys to DJ our wedding at McMenamin's Edgefield. She was extremely professional and diligent in providing us with the type of music that we wanted for our celebration. She was flexible with our needs, providing two separate venue set-ups and mics for ceremony, and her straight forward attitude put as at ease. Additionally, she went our of her way to find obscure music for the processional, and that made our day even more special!Sincerely: Seth and Jennifer

Great DJ company, we have used them for two weddings in our family now. The cocktail and dinner music lists were played exactly how I wanted them. People were dancing all night! My only complaint was that the DJ did not play all the songs on my "must-play list", and substituted other songs that he wanted to play. However, the guests kept dancing and loved it all anyway!

Lynn and Mark provided us with great dance lessons and DJ services. They were always friendly, accomodating, and very responsive. We had four lessons and they helped us coregraph the perfect dance to our song. Mark did an excellent job with the music selection and taking requests. He missed one last name pronunciation with the introduction of the bride's sister and a couple announcements were somewhat difficult to hear in the back of the hall, but a great job with all the important stuff and friendly attitude. Excellent service, value for cost, and overall a very positive experience - highly recommended.

Meidajockeys--specifically Lynn Winkle and Mark--were the ideal DJs. They were great for the following reasons:*Affordable and friendly*Expedient*Organized (the timelines I completed beforehand helped me to organize and plan the whole event easily)*Flexible (I had a few requests during the night regarding announcements and the order of events and they fulfilled them)*They have a lot of music to choose from. I actually made a playlist, and they used those songs and, at the wedding, also solicited requests from guests, which helped them to get more in the spiritIt was a great night!

I went with MediaJockey for my wedding because they did my sister-in-laws wedding they also did 2 other weddings that I attended. So I knew that they were good. When I met Lynn I was amazed on the attention that she gave to my wedding. It seemed like this was the most important job to her. That says a lot. Lynn helped my husband and I pick all of our special event songs. She was great!! We had a 5 hr long reception and Lynn kept the party going. She played great music. We had a few requests but told her to choose what to play. We just told her what kind of music we liked and she went off that. Lynn did an amazing job. A lot of our guest complimented on all of our music. She did out ceremony and reception. Lynn was a HIT!!!I would highly recommend MediaJockey

We were so happy with mediajockeys! They were very flexible and responsive to our needs and wants with an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. They played the music we wanted and at the right volume. Lynn and her partner also taught us a dance for our first dance that was simple enough for us non-dancers but also looked great for our reception. She responded very quickly to all of my emails and was very easy to work with. They also helped to work within our budget.I highly recommend this company as a dj service!

I'll start with mentioning that our DJ completely slaughtered my name multiple times (e.g. introducing the happy couple) until one of our guests politely corrected him and the music completely cut out while my sister was singing our first dance. However, he was able to make a quick recovery and I suppose its these little things that help make the day more memorable for everyone.Lynn was not the most polite person I have ever dealt with. Sure you gave us a great deal in tight financial times, but you need not treat your clients like second class.Overall, our DJ was really friendly and played all the songs requested and then some. He did a great job of setting up both outside for the ceremony (he provided speakers and mics) and inside for the reception. He was able to keep the evening moving and I know that our guests had a great time. Not sure I'd use them again, but it was the best price we were able to find for a full wedding service.

We had the pleasure of working with Mediajockeys, specifically Lynn Winkle, for our wedding just recently. We could not have been happier with the service we recieved from them. Having never workied with a DJ before I was really nervous that would get exactly what i wanted even though I was not sure what that was exactly. We needed music for almost 7 hours and and mediajockies was more affordable then anyone else we could find. We initally met with Lynn to go over general song prefferences and timeline, then the rest of our contact was via email and she was always very quick to respond with answers to even my silly questions. I thought their website was very easy to use and I liked the fact that we could choose the songs we wanted to play and at what time and the songs we did not want played. They have a huge selection of music and even the songs that they did not have, we just requested them and they were able to get them. They only thing we really had to do is supply some of the ceremony music. We had pretty specific songs/versions of those songs we wanted played, but we just got a cd to Lynn and she was able to do her thing so it all flowed seemlessly for the ceremony. We just gave them a timeline and I had a family member talk if over with them when they arrived on the day. They made all announcements, including table numbers for the buffet, when we wanted for the whole evening. I didn't have to worry at all about something being missed. Bottom line, I wanted a worry free evening of music and all my guests on the dance floor the whole night and thats what I got! I still have friends coming to me and telling me how much fun they had and how much they enjoyed the music. It was a wonderful evening and I thank Lynn and Mediajockeys for their help:)

While my husband and I were initially very excited about MediaJockeys, we were unfortunately disappointed by the service we received at our wedding. With that said, I would recommend this company to anyone as long as you are able to use the DJ Lynn Winkle. After signing our contract, we did not know that had we paid a deposit for a specific DJ, we could have gotten that DJ to work our wedding. We were then assigned to a newer DJ, who had never done a wedding at our outdoor venue. This would not have been a problem had our venue not had very specific sound requirements, and we would have been more content knowing that an experienced person who had been at the venue was involved on our wedding day. One of the reasons we picked this company, aside form the amazing price, was because they were familiar with our wedding venue and had worked there a number of times.I would like to rave about the amazing online music selection system used by Media Jockeys, which allowed us to setup our song list and specify all of the music we wanted them to play, as well as those songs we didn't want played. This made us comofrted to know that nobody could walk up and request the chicken dance or the electric slide. This amazing system also allowed us to specify when songs could be played, giving us the opportunity to select those songs to be played during the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. We did this all in the comfort of our own home, and the system had every song on it that we wanted played!Everytime we had questions, MediaJockeys was quick to respond to emails or phone calls, and was so helpful in making sure our day was perfect! Our only challenges with this company were those that came in working with a newer DJ. Our wedding ceremony started later than expected (who's doesn't), and the DJ had some trouble sticking to the time line we arranged with MediaJockeys prior to the wedding date. I had to continuously come over to the DJ and tell him we needed to move onto the bouquet toss and garter toss, cake cutting, and other things throughout the night. While it wasn't a huge deal for me to do this the day of my wedding, when I look back on the day, I wish that I hadn't had to worry about that stuff.I did a lot of research on DJs and MediaJockeys was by far the most inexpensive in the Portland-area, and provided the most for the lowest amount. For 4 hours of play time, ths price was very reasonable, and this included my setup and take down, which was hard to find!All-in-all, I was happy with MediaJockeys and would recommend them to others as long as you select the DJ of your choice earlier on!
