Sweet Cakes by Melissa

In one word: DELICIOUS!! I had a contract with another baker for my wedding cake, but when they went out of business a few weeks after I signed the contract, I started freaking out. Until I found Sweet Cakes by Melissa. Her husband interviewed with my MOH and myself, laying out the cake testing, and immediately put me at ease. The cake flavors and quality far surpassed what I had originally planned and the costs were cheaper! How's that for lucking out! The flavors we went with were Raspberry Dream, Chocolate Heaven, and the Boston Cream Pie. I have never heard so many compliments on food in my life. Everyone was asking where we got the cake and if they were close enough that my guests could find the baker. The cakes were moist (no freezing first here!) and the frosting was sweet and light. We even had one of her cakes (Red Velvet) for my bridal shower which got my female guests salivating at the idea of getting more at the wedding. The professionalism and service of Sweet Cakes was also fantastic. My groom couldn't make the cake tasting, so they gave me three cupcakes (and those things are BIG), one for each flavor I had chosen, so my HTB could try the flavors himself and decide if he wanted something else... all complimentary! My sister is getting married this next summer and she is planning to use Sweet Cakes, too, based on what she had at my wedding... high praise...

Our cake tasted fabulous and turned out exactly the way we told them we wanted it to; simple but elegant. The cake all 5 tiers including a special gluten free tier tasted awesome, all of our guests were impressed with the flavor, taste and look of the cake. Our Groom's cake was not 100% what we had pictured making it hard to give 5/5 for quality but all in all would recommend them to anyone looking for good/tasty cake and excellent service. Everyone at sweet cakes was very helpful and sweet, they made sure all of our needs were met.

Their location is a little sketchy, but their cake was DELICIOUS and they are very nice!

I loved my cakes,I got both a wedding cake and a grooms cake from sweet cakes. They were beautiful. I did however have a problem with the cakes being frozen. They looked great, but the flavor was not so good. The next day when the cakes were defrosted they were great, but not on the day that counts. So I will recommend sweet cakes just make sure the cakes are ready to be served. Great prices, for great design.

Made half our cake gluten free! It was delicious! This is a wonderful couple, with a small shop. Very personal. And Melissa is quite an artist! The cake was PERFECT.

I used Sweet cakes to make my grooms cake. I sent her a picture of what we wanted and she recreated it perfectly. My husband was very happy with the end product!

Delicious and beautiful cake. Everything I asked for. Everyone said the cake was very tasty. Decorated exactly like promised and when I saw it I was very happy with the outcome. Great bakery. My husband and I went back and got some cupcakes and they were great too.

I knew Melissa was the perfect person to do our wedding cake the moment we walked into her shop for our cake tasting. She was just the nicest, sweetest lady ever and we could tell she was so passionate about her work. The second we put the first piece of cake in our mouths, we were sold. We had a really specific idea in our minds on how we wanted our cake to look and Melissa absolutely delivered. Everyone enjoyed their cake and we will absolutely go back to her for more cakes in the future. Thanks Melissa! :)

We tried Sweetcakes at the wedding convention and their cake pretty much blew away the competition. It was a tasty and very dense cake. It was a little hard actually figuring out the exact flavor we had tried there but after some work we found out that it was their Fruit-Filled Fantasy Cake with fresh Raspberries. Melissa did a simple design just like we wanted and is very open to doing multiple different flavors in the cake. We did the Fantasy Cake and Strawberry & Chocolate Ganache. Both were a hit at our wedding.

Such an amazing cake. I had a 4 tier cake with white fondant and black icing detail. It turned out amazing.

Our wedding cake turned out beautifully and we also loved what Melissa did for our groom's cake! She was really able to take our ideas and turn them into reality. We loved working with her!

Melissa was fantastic to work with. There were a few communication problems, but everything was resolved and our cake exceeded my expectations. I am still hearing from guests how beautiful and delicious our cake was. I would highly recommend using Sweet Cakes by Melissa!

I first came in contact with Sweet Cakes when my husband and I were looking around for a bakery to do our wedding cake. We found their website and loved Melissa's work. So we set up a tasting and LOVED her cakes! They were delicious and Melissa and her husband were both very down to earth and nice people! She made our wedding cake exactly how we wanted it..with all the details we wanted done perfectly! She even made it a point to come say hello to me on my wedding day. She didn't just deliver the cake and leave..she came and found me at the venue and made a point to talk to me and give me a hug! I would highly recommend Sweet Cakes by Melissa to anyone for any occasion. We also had her make my husbands birthday cake and that too came out perfectly! We will also be going back for our sons 1st birthday cake! Oh and her chocolate peanut butter cupcakes are AMAZING! So delicious! If you are wanting a beautiful cake for your special occasion that tastes amazing and is made by a nice family business! Look no further!

We were very satisfied with our wedding cake from Sweet Cakes. It tasted so fresh and delicious it was almost sinful. The texture and flavor almost melted in your mouth. The husband and wife team was very easy to work with and they provided a good product for the price. I liked the fact that they are a small bakery and flexible enough to accommodate special requests.

Melissa is such a nice person and was super easy to work with. Her cakes are fantastic. I don't usually like cake and was going to have cheesecake instead, but after our tasting, I couldn't wait to try our fresh strawberry poppyseed cake and rich dense decadent chocolate fudge cake. It did not disappoint. The cake was beautiful. We had a fairly small 3 layer cake and then 2 sheet cakes for 200 people, so the price was more reasonable that way. Melissa is a sweet heart!

Our wedding cake was AWESOME!! The peanut butter chocolate cake was RIDICULOUS!!! People are still talking about how good it was. She did a great job of matching our invitation design. She was great to work with. You should check out the bakery, everything tastes great!!!

I had a pretty good experience with Sweet Cakes. We loved the samples at the Bridal Show and made our appointment there. And we were told to email her seven different cakes we wanted to sample during our appointment so my mom emailed her with the seven we wanted to try. But when we showed up they just had random samples. I already knew I wanted to have the Chocolate Dip Strawberry cake so it didn't matter "too" much because I already made up my mind for the one tier but for the other two we wanted to try what we wanted. We were able to make a decision and I was very happy with what we chose and they were sooooo delicious. It was just a little let down when we showed up and didn't have the specific ones to try. Also when we got there it was messy, the table had cake on it and needed to be cleaned. We had the first appointment that day too so it must've been out for awhile. And when we were talking about decorating for out cake we were talking with her husband and he quoted the cake to be more than we expected, but when Melissa came out to discuss it she quoted it much lower because she knew it didn't take as much effort as her husband thought it would be. I suggest having Melissa quote your cake! She knows how much time it will take and it will be more reasonable having her quote for you. And I do love how we didn't have to save the top tier of the cake, they have a deal where you can come back a year later to buy a fresh cake (or get a free one if you refer someone). And I like that idea a whole lot better than saving something for a year and will most likely just throw it out anyway.

Cake was exactly what we wanted and described. Easy to work with and very skilled with taste. we interviewed 5 bakers and we know we made the right choice.

Melissa did a fabulous job on my wedding cake. Not only was it absolutely beautiful, it was delicious! We ran out of cake... people came back for thirds! People keep telling me that was the best that they have ever had! You have a customer for life. I will refer everyone I know to you! You are the best!

I'm so glad we went with Sweet Cakes by Melissa! We originally chose this company because of their variety of very unique flavors... and we weren't disappointed! Everyone we talked to at our wedding loved the cake (and there was none leftover, wow!). Melissa is very flexible as far as cake flavors (we had 3 different flavors) and she is very creative. I liked how my cake was designed specifically for me (Melissa sketched it out for my approval) and that it wasn't just a cookie cutter design she put on it. The cake was delivered on time and looked exactly how I pictured it. The flavor that got rave reviews from my guests was the strawberry poppyseed (fresh strawberries in the filling!). I would definitely recommend this company. My only (minor) complaint was that sometimes it was hard to get all my questions answered via email from Melissa. But when I took the time to call her and speak with her on the phone, she was very helpful and we cleared up everything.
