I found my dream dress here. the staff was nice and polite and the prices were reasonable.

The dress I found didn't have the neckline I wanted. My sales associate let me know that I could get it changed. I picked out a sweetheart neckline and my dress was made with it. My dress came in early and Brenda did wonders with the alterations. I had gained a few pounds since the dress arrived and she made it fit me perfectly on my wedding day.

Angie helped me pick out my dress and she was so wonderful! She was very helpful and gave great advice! The selection like mentioned is small but the dresses are very nice and affordable! I love that each section of mirrors is accompanied by a few chairs for mom and sisters or bridesmaids and that they are in different sections so you feel like you're the only one in there and you get the utmost attention! I found the perfect dress and wasn't pushed into buying anything!

While Crystal was the main person that helped me, every single one of the ladies there were amazing! They all gave their input on my dress and we would stand around talking like girlfriends, it was amazing. I started shopping for my wedding dress a year before our wedding. Crystal was so wonderful. She gave her honest opinion and didn't just say "looks good" just because that's what you wanted to hear. I was so impressed with the service there, I bough all 5 of my bridesmaids dresses through them, the tiara, the veil (along with getting my cake and flowers done with evelyn on the other side!!!). I'm also getting my gown cleaned and preserved through them as well. Sometimes, customer service is all that matters and that is something they have down to an art!

I stopped here only to try on a few dress and prayed that I could find something I like here. It is actually called The Bridal Arts Building. My wedding was just 2 months away and needed a dress. From the minute I walked in the sales ladies were very helpful. One of them unfortuneatly I cant remember her name helped me try on a few dresses. The third dress I tryed on was the one. I felt like a princess and that is what I wanted. You dont want to buy a dress you dont really like. I was so happy after that I tryed on a few other dresses but we both agreed and even the owner of the store came out and said oh no that is the one. I said yes it is! I bought it and it was very reasonably priced plus no sales tax! I took it home that night and brought it back a month later for pressing. The week before the wedding I came back and got my hair piece and shoes and they were just as wonderful as the first time. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a nice experience shopping for your big day!

I bought my dress almost a year and a half before my wedding. From the beginning The Hostess House was very helpful and accommodating to what I was looking for. They stored my dress for over a year until my wedding. No other salon was willing to do that, and they did without a hassel. They took care of all the alterations and had my dress steamed a ready to go for pick-up the week of my wedding! I was so happy with the service that was provided from day one! My dress so so amazing and for the price you can't beat it! Anywhere else my dress would have cost a fortune, but at the Hostess House it was so affordable and No Sales Tax was even better! I would highly recommend them :)

I came there knowing that I most likely wanted a Maggie Sottero gown. I was impressed with the selection of not only all the gowns but of the plus size gowns as I am a plus size bride. the staff was very nice and my consultant (deborah? blonde, glasses) was extremely helpful. After trying on a few dresses and not getting that "feeling", I gave her my wedding planner binder and she went through the pictures of gowns that I liked. She came back with a few and I tried on one and looked in the mirror in the dressing room and just froze. This was it. She picked one that flattered my figure and had all the features i was looking for. It just so happened to be one of the top three Maggie Sottero dresses I had in my binder. THAT people is how a great bridal gown consultant works. The price was around $300 cheaper than the elite boutiques in portland and their service was not as great even though they have won best in portland awards. The Bridal Arts Building made my experience personal and wonderful.

I would reccomend the Hostess House to anyone! Espically working with Crystal!! I was so excited to get married that I started my wedding dress search a year and a half in advance and went to other places and got horrible service! But when I went into the hostess house the service I got was amazing. Crystal helped me find dresses that would fit my shape and if i picked something out she told me what she thought but I still tried it on and ended up hating it like she said lol. She was always very honest and so helpful. I got my dress, bridesmaids dresses, mother of the bride dress there and also flower girl dress. Everything was perfect! I will admit that the first time I visited this shop, my intention was to try things on to get an idea of the style of dress I would like, but not to buy anything. I was very impressed with the small, but nice selection, and the prices were incredibly reasonable. The employees are very helpful, but sometimes almost pushy in trying to get you to buy things. It reminded me of car salesman at times, it was so bad on certain days. While this store is very old-fashioned, they are very kind, and even give you a rose when you purchase your wedding dress! It's like comparing a Ross to a Macy's - if you don't mind taking the time to really look through the dresses, you may get lucky like I did. I found a Maggie Sottero gown for $700, that was over $1000 in other stores in Portland. Something else I liked was that hidden around the back corner is a "Sale" section where they have shoes and accessories for incredibly reasonable prices. I recommend this shop for those on a budget looking for wedding dresses, shoes, and accessories, but just know ahead of time that it's not going to be a posh, upscale bridal experience.

Would not recommend. Very old fashioned place. The customer service persons were not helpful at all. Unpatient. Did buy my guest book there though.

The ladies at Hostess House were very nice ladies. The dress I bought was georgeous and affordable. The only thing I can say about it is that they are very obviously payed on commission. She was constantly hunkering in and standing around the outskirts of our conversation jumping in and trying to sell us stuff. It was pretty uncomfortable. But I wa able to get my dress, shoes and alterations all at the same place which was really convenient.

I was impressed with the selection of wedding dresses they had. I hadn't even planned on going there, but they had the dress that I was looking for. They also had the perfect jewelry & accessories for me - necklace, earrings, hair piece & veil. I would definitely give them a try.

I love this place! I got my dream Cinderella wedding dress for only $199! What an amazing deal! It fit perfect and looked perfect. They were wonderful to deal with and did everything possible to make our experience there enjoyable!

Beautiful dresses and a great selection at reasonable prices. They were nice enough to oblige my mother by taking a dress off of a mannequin for me to try on, which ended up being the dress I chose. And seeing as how it was just a couple months before our wedding date and the seamstress was able to fit me with no problem, I was very happy.
